A (light) Bulb Moment
Now is the best time to plant your bulbs, so they have time to establish before the ground freezes. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs when average night time temperatures are between 40-50-degrees. Although it can be cooler. The idea is to establish some roots before winter, but not to trigger growth which could happen with an extended period of high temperatures.
Working on my clients large property in Washington, Connecticut commands a large crew for the big dig ahead. After 10 years its time for some serious work to put things right. We removed all the old bulbs, revitalized the soil and planted in new ones for the best of the best come Spring.
After the big dig, time to carefully recover and re-seed. I laid out the beds again and look forward to spring. Think hot colors!
Another client will get quite a spring surprise when 1,000 tulips make their springtime appearance!
