Fall Garden Tour

 Washington, Connecticut

Washington, Connecticut

Enjoy a drive through the country - upon arrival view the extensive gardens, play some croquet and visit the charming log chapel folly. When ready enjoy a light snack and beverage located in the tent by the folly.

 The Folly

The Folly

The Sumacs, like many neighboring homes in the area were gifted names and given historical interest by its creator and architect, Erick Rossiter. The natural topography of the property and a couple of magnificent trees of age bring elegance and stature but it is the workings of its present owners that are setting the stage for a garden of interest.

Owned by Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kohn, who founded Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) one of the largest architecture firms in the world. Their combined vision brings a striking difference in direction which can only be realized in such a large setting. The garden is for all seasons but Fall is exceptional in its transformation.

FAQs - What should I wear/bring?

Tour guests are encouraged to dress comfortably for walking through the gardens – it may be chilly so bring a sweater. There may be sloped, mulched, or pebbled paths available to explore. Sturdy, comfortable footwear is best. If rain is in the forecast, wear a hooded jacket or please bring an umbrella. We ask that all guests vacate the property no later than 2pm.

Tickets are $40 per person. A brochure will be presented to those upon arrival and a country bouquet to take away as a keepsake.

The specific address and parking information will be e-mailed to you the day before.
